Her Mr. Big: Priscilla & David Get Married

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Back in January I had the pleasure of staying at the Viceroy Anguilla and it has come to be one of my favorite locations to escape to, so when I saw this wedding I immediately fell in love with it. The vibrant pinks perfectly compliment the Caribbean location, I adore Priscilla’s gown, the bridesmaid dresses are beyond amazing, David is handsome in his suit, the sunset vows and intimate reception—it was all stunning and elegant.

Priscilla Brito and David Burstyn
Married in Anguilla, British West Indies on January 15, 2011

Priscilla and David were destined to share their lives from the moment they first met. She was his perpetual New Year’s Eve date and therapist; he was her Mr. Big. It’s a story that reads like a cross between “Sex and the City” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

So different, yet so perfect for each other, it was a South Beach fairytale. Boy meets girl, they connect, travel, shop and dine in delicious style together and enjoy the best life has to offer. Always on the go—and everything in between—from climbing one of the most challenging summits, Ajax Mountain, in Aspen to struggling with Spanish while visiting Priscilla’s relatives in Cuba. It was the excitement that every couple dreams of … which is why, for some, things might go into a holding pattern.

Settling down? Not on David’s agenda. As much as Priscilla cared for him, her free spirit and lust for life kept her at bay. He would lure her into his world and she would reel him right back into hers. But one day, David realized that Priscilla may not be there forever and he couldn’t let her get away! She was the one who showed him how much fun life is outside of work, he could talk to her about anything, and she seemed to always be there for him.

So, he rode in on his white horse, swept her off her feet, and said “not so fast pretty girl; you belong to me.” They rode off into the sunset—to the airport actually—and flew to Las Vegas. Gambling, Rolls Royces and an elegant dinner set the stage for their happy ending. And as David prepared to get down on one knee and handed Priscilla a little box with a lifetime promise of love inside, she grabbed him by the lapels, pulled him to her, and said: “Get up, I’ll marry you!”

Inspiration for their wedding came one year before the proposal when friends took them to the Viceroy Anguilla. While their initial plans of a large wedding kept them from pursuing the venue, they reevaluated, shortened their guest list, and made a three-day weekend out of it. Not only did it turn out to be the best weekend of their lives, but so many others now share the same memories with them. “We would do it all over again and again if we could!” they agree.

Some Monitors Are Worth Licking

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

You must know – I love Jasmine Star. She is a wonderful and energetic woman (did I forget to mention a phenomenal photographer) with the most infectious laugh. I had the honor of meeting Jasmine at Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica when I was getting feedback for my new hardcover book.

After becoming an immediate fan, I bookmarked her website. As I was sifting through her blog for my daily photo, a white cake caught my eye. Its simplicity and organic look radiated beauty.

Can you imagine? A couple of years ago, I was using a Sony Vaio laptop. Today I am writing from my sleek 27″ iMac. In a few years, I hope there will be smell-o-vision and maybe even lick-o-vision. *crossing fingers*
