An Immediate Connection: Nicole & Eric Get Married

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

Nicole Cornetta and Eric Foster
Married in New York, New York on April 28, 2012

“He likes to tell people I picked him up at a bar!” says Nicole Cornetta. Eric Foster laughs: “As soon as I saw her I felt an immediate connection.” The truth is, the couple actually met at a wedding and immediately hit it off. They exchanged numbers and Eric didn’t wait to call Nicole. In fact, he rang her at 8 a.m. the next morning, and as they say: the rest is history.

“Eric works in finance and is often prompted to entertain clients with dinners and such,” explains Nicole. One night they were supposed to meet clients at their room at the Mandarin Oriental New York before heading to dinner at Per Se. As they opened the clients’ hotel room Nicole was completely taken aback as she opened the door to see thousands of cherry blossom trees (a favorite of hers) filling the room. After looking around she realized that Eric was down on one knee, proposing.

And that wasn’t the only surprise: Eric arranged for the head chef at Masa to prepare their favorite meal right there in the room. It “was extremely extraordinary, as Masa was the location in which our first I love you’s were exchanged,” shares Nicole. And just when she didn’t think it could get any better, Eric topped off the weekend, the following night with a surprise celebratory cocktail party at the hotel where they were joined by friends and family to celebrate their engagement.

Their wedding planning included hiring some of New York’s finest to make their special day everything they dreamt of at dramatic Gotham Hall.

Location: Gotham Hall, New York, NY; Cake: Sylvia Weinstock, New York, NY; Event Planner and Design: David Beahm Design, New York, NY; Band: Steve Delisi Band for Hank Lane Music and Productions, New York, NY; Stationery: Alpine Creative Group, New York, NY; Tuxedo: Tom Ford; Shoes: Jimmy Choo and Brian Atwood; Jewelry: Marisa Perry, New York, NY; Hair and Makeup: Face Time Beauty Concierge, New York, NY; Wedding Gown: Monique Lhuillier; Veil: Rivini; After-Party Outfit: Stella McCartney; Photography: Anthony Vazquez Photography, New York, NY; Cinematography: Joseph Edwards Films, New York, NY

We wish you countless years of happiness Nicole and Eric and a big thank you to Edward Neary of Joseph Edwards Films for letting us share this with our viewers!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

Designer Rita Vinieris explored the juxtaposition of classicism and modernism for her SS2013 Rivini couture bridal gown collection. A magical collection that was inspired by a Rodney Smith photograph of a ballerina dancing alongside an indoor pool, Rivini utilized soft textures (tulle, organzas and laces) and an airy color palette of ivories, nudes and copper tones. From the hair to makeup to the overall styling of each look, Loudbyte Cinematography did a phenomenal job capturing the exquisite details incorporated in Rivini’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection!

Spotlight on Ivory Bridal Atelier, Houston, TX

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Ivory Bridal Atelier is a new bridal salon that opened its doors this past January in Houston, Texas and is owned and operated by fashion savvy sisters, whom are natives to the Houston area. This bridal salon is an absolute gem, offering a wide array and selection of bridal gown designers.

Sharon and Ronit are no strangers to fashion. Ronit spent 6 years working for Hugo Boss in New York City, and Sharon, a Fashion Merchandising major, has worked for companies such as Louis Vuitton and Laura Mercier. They plan on infusing their fashion expertise into Ivory Bridal Atelier, to ensure a selection of truly unique and beautiful gowns along with superior service. I had the privilege to chat with salon owners Sharon and Ronit and got an insider’s look into this chic and fabulous salon.
Ivory Bridal Atelier
GO: How long have you been in business?
IBA
: 6 months! Ivory Bridal Atelier opened its doors in January of 2011 by Houstonian sisters, Ronit Levy Mele and Sharon Levy. When Ronit and Sharon Levy decided to follow their dream of opening up a cutting edge Bridal Salon in Houston, Texas, they drew upon the experiences that they shared as sisters shopping for one another’s bridal gowns. They both agreed that there was that “something special” missing in the process, and that they would design an experience that would embody all of the unique touches that they felt every bride should have when making this dream purchase. They also recognized that as Houston continues to grow and become more urban, its brides are becoming more fashion forward and looking for wedding dresses that are classic yet make a statement.

GO: What designers do you carry?
IBA
: Ivory Bridal Atelier has dresses from Ines Di Santo, Anne Barge and Rivini. Other lines such as Lela Rose, Badgley Mischka, Lazaro, Liancarlo, Alvina Valenta and Jim Hjelm are exclusive to our salon in the area of Houston.

GO: Do you offer alterations?
IBA
: We do not offer in-house alterations, as we have great relationships with two of the best couture alterations seamstresses in Houston. We send all of our brides to them, as we really trust their work and they have been doing wedding gown alterations for many years. We work very closely with them to ensure that our customers are all satisfied with their dress. We also have them attend trunk shows from time to time to answer any questions brides may have before making a big purchase.

GO: Do you sell accessories/veils/shoes?
IBA
: We sell all kinds of accessories to complete the bride’s look from head to toe. Belts, shrugs, veils, hairpieces, jewelry, headpieces, and custom garters by designers Sara Gabriel and Homa Bridal. We also have shoes and bridal evening bags by Badgley Mischka.

GO: Do you have a trunk show schedule?
IBA
: YES!

Liancarlo Trunk Show, August 5-6
Jim Hjelm Trunk Show, August 19-20
Badgley Mischka Trunk Show, September 23-24
Anne Barge Trunk Show, September 30 – October 1
Alvina Valenta Trunk Show, October 28-29
Rivini Trunk Show, December 2-3

GO: What is your salon’s mission?
IBA
: Ivory Bridal Atelier is to provide brides with the most exquisite selection of couture gowns, and create the magical “movie moment” shopping experience that every bride dreams of. We create lasting relationships with our brides, so that they feel comfortable calling us at anytime with any questions or concerns they may have.

GO: What unique services do you offer brides? What makes your salon stand apart
from others?
IBA
: Our location, customer service and selection set us apart from other boutiques.

Location: We are located in the premier new outdoor shopping area in Houston called West Ave. Home to upscale stores such as the new Tootsies women’s department store, Bang and Olufsen, Q Custom Shirts and trendy restaurants such as Eddie V’s and Pondicheri. Located in the heart of Upper Kirby and River Oaks, there is always something going on here, whether it be a magazine launch party or a big social event at Tootsies, and makes for a fun and vibrant outdoor shopping experience for our brides. Our second floor location creates a private setting for our brides, while our modern and chic décor creates a wonderful ambience for the young and fashionable bride.

Selection: We have all different styles of gowns and buy the most special and unique pieces from every collection and designer that we carry. For a while, there was a void in Houston for a modern bridal boutique with modern and fashion forward gowns. When I was shopping for a gown, just 2 years ago, I felt that I needed to travel to NYC or Dallas to find more fashion forward gowns, but Houston brides no longer need to do that!

GO: In your own words, describe the “bridal salon experience” that brides will
 receive when visiting your salon.
IBA
: From the moment a bride walks into Ivory Bridal Atelier, she can expect her experience to be unique to that of any other bridal salon. After browsing through a collection of some of the world’s finest couture bridal gowns, each bride and her guests is ushered to an oversized “Dressing Suite”. At Ivory Bridal Atelier, we appreciate the intimacy of this special time, and strive to create an experience that is as private as each bride wants it to be, filled with special touches to make the journey memorable. Each suite has a dressing area for the bride and a separate chic living room for her guests to wait comfortably and privately for the brides reveal, as they enjoy a glass of champagne and selection of petit fours and mini cupcakes. This intimate by appointment only experience includes a style consultation and each bride is assisted in creating a complete look from head to toe.

GO: What are your hours?
IBA
: By Appointment on Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am – 5:30 pm

GO: Anything special you want our readers to know?
IBA
: We truly love what we do and love being involved in this special process with our brides. We are honored to get to share this special time with them and enjoy helping them narrow down the gowns until they find that one perfect gown!

Thank you Ronit Levy Mele & Sharon Levy for giving us a look into the services and selection that you offer at the BEAUTIFUL Ivory Bridal Atelier.

Whisked Away: Gloria & Miguel Get Married

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Alright, I admit it: I love destination weddings and this one at Château de Baronville in France is no different. I think they matched the grandeur of the location perfectly with their attire. Add simple decor, more adorable children, beautiful photography and unparalleled vistas, and it was an affair to remember.

Gloria Galt Steves and Miguel Evan Dilley
Married in Chartres, France on October 16, 2009

Gloria Galt Steves—a sixth-generation employee and board member of Steves & Sons—and Miguel Evan Dilley—a law student at Law School at St. Mary’s University and an employee at the Dilley Law Firm—met while attending a political fundraiser for Susan Reed back in 2006. Love followed and soon thereafter a proposal, leading up to a fairytale wedding that took the San Antonio, Texas residents all the way to France to be married at Chartres Cathedral of Notre Dame.

Following the ceremony, their 250 guests were whisked away to Chateau Baronville where they climbed the grand red-carpet lined steps to congratulate the newlyweds in a processional. Once inside, they were greeted with champagne, cocktails and the finest hors d’ oeuvres—from exotic meats and sushi to cotton candy foie gras and wrapped sea bass. Strolling violinists escorted the guests to their tables, which were adorned with silver candelabras wrapped in cascading white orchids.

A five-course dinner paired with wines from Domaine Comte Senard was served and then a five-foot Croquembouche lit with giant sparklers was paraded around the room for everyone to view. Following the cutting of the cake, guests gathered in front of the chateau to watch an elaborate fireworks display. The grand finale included fireworks that read “G heart M,” and afterwards guests enjoyed dancing until 3 a.m.

Rehearsal Dinner: Trianon Palace, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Versailles, France; Rehearsal Dinner Caterer: Chef Gordon Ramsay; Ceremony Location: Chartres Cathedral of Notre Dame, Chartres, France; Reception Location, Cake and Caterer: Château de Baronville, Béville le Comte, France; Event Planner: Lynn Huntress, San Antonio, TX; Invitations: William Arthur at Claire Reynolds Stationer at Julian Gold, San Antonio, TX; Celebrant: Father David Herman Garcia; Organist: Laurent Bouis; Soloist: Simon Edwards; Place Cards: Karen Adams Designs, Memphis, TN; Calligrapher: Maureen Vickery, Pen Dance Calligraphy & Engraving, Houston, TX; Mother-of-the-Bride Dress: Neiman Marcus; Bridesmaid Dresses: Bill Levkoff at Julian Gold, San Antonio, TX; Hair and Makeup: Birdie Sanchez and Chad Gunther; Shoes: Valentino; Jewelry: Harry Winston; Custom Wedding Gown: Rivini; Photography: Jeanann Wilkinson, J Wilkinson Co Photography, San Antonio, TX
