Villa 120GO: If you had to describe the property in three words, what would they be?
VOT: Newport’s Hidden Gem!

GO: What do you do for couples and their guests that set you apart from everyone else?
VOT: Anything from planning to organizing vendor meetings at the Villa saving the couple from running around Newport, not to mention personal service.

GO: Do you have selected areas where a couple can elect to take images?
VOT: The gardens alone are breathtaking, but we also have beautiful interiors for that grand old world feel.

GO: What are some of the amenities/special activities that you offer for a couple planning to have a weekend wedding?
VOT: A glass of champagne and a small chocolate fountain is served to overnight guests upon arrival setting the mood for the weekend. We can organize anything, but have on-site rehearsal dinners, hair and make-up in natural day light, and massages on site.

GO: Do you have unique guest spaces, where out of town guests can feel like they’re also on vacation?
VOT: Absolutely, our grand ball room makes everyone feel special, but we also have a wonderful front porch for rest and relaxation. We also have a library for cocktails and a beautiful secluded garden with croquet and other grass games.

GO: What is the first thing a couple should do if they are interested in having a destination wedding at your property?
VOT: Call to see if we have availability on their chosen date and ensure their guest list does not exceed 60.

The Inside Scoop on Planning a Wedding at Hotel Providence, Rhode Island

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Located in the center of downtown Providence, Hotel Providence has been offering its guests an escape from the Creative Capital since February of 2005. This boutique hotel allows its guests to have an intimate experience when it comes to planning and personalizing their wedding. Hotel Providence is the only AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel in downtown and has its own unique style, filled with old charm flair and character. There’s nowhere else that offers its guests a simple, yet sophisticated and stylish atmosphere to have their reception.

I had the pleasure to chat with the Director of Catering at Hotel Providence, Rhonda English, who has worked at the hotel since it’s doors opened six years ago. Rhonda has more than 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has spent most of her time working at premier properties. Rhonda was able to give us an exclusive look into the special services that they provide when couples decide to plan their wedding at the Hotel Providence.
Hotel Providence
GO: What is your unique role when it comes to a couple’s wedding day and how does your property distinguish a couple’s experience as opposed to getting married somewhere else?
RE
: At Hotel Providence, we strive to create the wedding of the couple’s dreams. Since we are a smaller property we are able to offer a more personalized brand of service. I am personally always there for the couple through out the entire wedding day as well as a bridal attendant from which white-gloved butler service is performed.

GO: From start to finish, what can a couple expect if they choose to get married at your property?
RE
: A truly elegant experience from start to finish with personalized service.

GO : If you had to describe your property in three words, what would they be?
RE
: Boutique, Elegant and Unique!

GO: What are the unique locations that a couple can host their ceremony and reception at in your venue?
RE
: For ceremonies, we have our Blackstone Terrace, which is a tented outdoor space that overlooks our courtyard. We also have our Johnson and Wales Hospitality Room, which is full of natural light with three walls of windows that overlook our courtyard and parts of downtown. For receptions you can certainly use any of the preceding rooms, our ballroom or Aspire Restaurant. Our Tilden Thurber Ballroom is a wonderful space to host a reception, because of all the natural light, a coffered ceiling, and antique pieces giving the space a classic and European touch. Aspire Restaurant has also been a popular choice for wedding receptions. Aspire is dressed with Swarovski crystal chandeliers, trendy art, textures including leather and velvet, and overlooks our courtyard.

GO: Do you have areas where a couple can elect to take their wedding pictures at your property?
RE
: We have several areas where couples can take their wedding pictures. We have our courtyard, Blackstone terrace, lobby, and our famous staircase that stretches from the second to seventh floor. It has become a popular spot to help capture wedding day memories.

GO: Do you have customizable packages? Tell me a little bit about them?
RE
: We offer customizable packages with large amenities consisting of a complimentary champagne toast and dinner for two at Aspire on your one-year anniversary!

GO: Food is such an important element at a wedding; tell me about your menus/culinary team?
RE
: Our menus are carefully designed to satisfy the palates of everyone. Our Executive Chef is a Johnson and Wales Culinary graduate and our Banquet Chef performed an apprenticeship in Switzerland.

GO: What is the first thing a couple should do if they are interested in getting married at your property?
RE
: A wonderful way to help couples who are interested in our property is for them to look at our virtual tour which can be accessed through our website, www.hotelprovidence.com. Couples should set up a site tour with myself so that they can get a feel of what our property is actually like in person.

GO: Does your property have any unique features that you would like us to share with our readers?
RE
: We feature wedding ideas and tips on our hotel’s blog. It can be found at www.hotelprovidence.wordpress.com and of course our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Thank you Rhonda English for giving GO a look into the unique services that the Hotel Providence provides it’s couples who are looking for an intimate and unique affair.
