Surprised They Hadn’t Met Before: Angelina & Charles Get Married

Monday, March 19th, 2012

You know you had a great time when you perspire. Angelina and Charles look like they had so much fun at their northern New Jersey wedding last August. I think Joseph Edwards Films perspective comes through crystal clear with their cinematography: the perfect marriage between a subtle eye and conveying a sense of energy. So, now I think the only thing to do is dance. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Angelina Troia and Charles Sferlazza
Married in Garfield, New York on August 14, 2011

Angelina Troia and Charles Sferlazza met on a weekend trip to Atlantic City for Angelina’s cousin’s birthday, who also happened to be one of Charlie’s best friends. Surprised that they had never met before, they hit it off right away and have been together ever since.

They were married four years later surrounded by 300 of their closest friends and family members at The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey. “It was the first and the last venue we visited,” remembers Angelina. Once the couple saw the large ballroom with its chandelier-strung high ceilings and tasted the delicious food, they knew that this is the place where they would get married.

Although the weather didn’t cooperate, and there was 10 inches of rain that day, it still turned out to be the perfect day that Angelina and Charles had always imagined it would be.

Mariachi Love: Analee & Brian Get Married

Friday, January 27th, 2012

It’s a rainy Friday and I thought that this Costa Mesa wedding filmed by the fabulous John Goolsby of Godfather Films was such an appropriate video to share to uplift my spirit a bit. This couple has so much energy and clearly shares so much love for one another. I love the vibe of their wedding, the masks at the reception and both of Analee’s gowns are beautiful. I hope you like it as much as I did. Enjoy!

Brian Gomez & Analee Almeida-Gomez
Married in Costa Mesa, California on November 26, 2011

Both being from Hispanic decent, we always dreamed of having a big wedding to be able to share with our entire family and friends. Celebrations by Turnip Rose was the perfect venue for us, we were going for more of a modern look with an elegant touch, Celebrations had all of this and more! The bride knew exactly how she wanted the venue decorated, she looked to her mother that has had many years of experience servicing luxury weddings in Mexico through her own independent business. A traditional Catholic wedding, we had a mariachi band at the ceremony and the reception which gave it an authentic touch, the white glove catering company put on a little show while they brought out the main entrée. We even had “The crazy hour” which consisted of providing our guests with masquerade themed masks while dancing to upbeat salsa and reggae songs for about an hour. Until this day, we get Facebook messages from friends of friends that have seen the video online and want to incorporate some of the ideas that we had in our wedding for their upcoming weddings. We feel very blessed that we were able to work with such amazing vendors that not only provided quality work but made you cherish every moment of that special day!

Videography: Godfather Films, Riverside, CA; Ceremony Location: San Joachim Catholic Church, Costa Mesa, CA; Reception Location and Caterer: Celebrations By Turnip Rose, Costa Mesa, CA; Decor: Francisca Almeida, Analee Almeida-Gomez; Photography: True Photography, Costa Mesa, CA

We wish you countless years of happiness Analee and Brian and a big thank you to John Goolsby of Godfather Films for letting us share this video with our viewers!

Post-Wedding Photo Shoot

Post-Wedding Photo Shoot

Post-Wedding Photo Shoot

I have this mild obsession with Europe. I love the history and architecture. Everything seems so rich with culture and is done in such a sophisticated way. When I received this post-wedding photo shoot from Stephan Rauch, I knew I wanted to share some images with you.

I hope you are inspired. For those of you that don’t like your wedding photos or want to collect more pictures of you as a couple, definitely consider doing a photo shoot after your wedding. It can be the day after or on an anniversary, but either way, you can walk away with keepsakes that continue to show your love story.

I hope you like Dominque and Emanuell Torres’s photos taken on three-year wedding anniversary in Vienna’s Imperial Hotel. Enjoy!

Thank you so much Dominique and Emanuell for letting us share this with our readers and a huge thank you to Stephan Rauch of Stephan Rauch Photography for letting us share your incredible images!

A Royal Wedding: Joyela & Kenneth Get Married

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

I had the honor of shooting at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida last year and loved it. So, when I saw Joyela and Kenneth’s royal wedding there I knew I had to share it with you. The grounds are incredible and the perfect backdrop to a couple’s nuptials.

Other things I love are Joyela’s shoes, the modern facade of the church, pictures of the couple under the arches, and the African dancers, to name a few. I hope you enjoy this wedding as much as I did.

Joyela Valentine and Kenneth Shobola
Married in Sarasota, Florida on April 26

Joyela Valentine had a very clear vision of her wedding day: “I want my guests to be treated like royalty!” And this was rather befitting considering Kenneth Shobola is a Nigerian prince. Every aspect of the wedding was meant to lavish guests from the red carpet entrance to the synchronized white-glove service, lavish décor and night of live entertainment.

Everyone rejoiced as Joyela’s church choir sang for her grand processional. However, tears came when the bride surprised her groom by reciting her vows in his native tongue: Yoruba. The reception consisted of king-style feasting tables decorated with orchids and crystals. Their guests were entertained by a live comedian and African dancers and plush lounge areas flanked the dance floor.

Oui Oui

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Kate and Adam took Cengiz Ozelsel (and sister and co-shooter Amina Ozelsel) of Adagion Studio in Miami, Florida on the engagement shoot of a lifetime to the City of Love and Lights. Upon arrival to Kate’s favorite city of Paris, they engaged in a series of iconic shoots at the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Moulin Rouge, fashionable rue Saint-Honoré and Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge, amongst others.

This engagement shoot is fun, sexy, chic, elegant, flirty and tells a visual story of love, proposals and acceptance. I love the images and am refreshed by the amazing ingenuity that Cengiz and Amina have infused into this shoot. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Butterfly Bridal Shower

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

When it comes to bridal showers, I love it when they are executed with style and elegance and this butterfly bridal shower was right on target. I like to pick a theme and run with it — showing taste and restraint, of course. Something I like in particular about this shower was the absence of hokey games replaced by more contemporary ideas like “Guess the Spice?” and the Make a Bouquet Contest.

I hope you enjoy these ideas as much as I did and be sure to stay tuned next week to see Sandra’s over-the-top wedding!

Sandra Thomasian has had an obsession with butterflies since she was a little girl, so when she got engaged and the time came for her shower it only made sense to have a butterfly-themed bridal shower. Sandra’s sister (the girl in the fabulous lavender dress) threw it for her and from the butterfly arch to the table décor, cake, the floating installation in the pool, the wrapping on the presents, the butterfly place cards that perched on the mimosas, and more, everything had to follow the butterfly theme. “What made my event so special was the attention to detail and the vibrant colors,” says Sandra.

Location: Private Residence; Event Planning and Design, Linen and Rentals: Sky Events & Production, Los Angeles, CA; Cake: Rafi’s Cakes, Glendale, CA; Catering: La Fogata Catering, Sherman Oaks, CA; Entertainment: DJ Melcon; Hair: Phillip Arellano, Carlton Hair Salon; Makeup: Fiore Beauty; Bride’s Dress: Badgley Mischka; Maid of Honor Dress: Marchesa; Photography: Reel Light Pictures, Burbank, CA

Thank you so much for letting us share your bridal shower Sandra and a big thank you to Lilit Khatchaturian of Sky Events & Production for your amazing work and Reel Light Pictures for letting us share these images with our viewers.

Full of Great Moments: Morgan & Nick Get Married

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

For me, Morgan and Nick’s wedding is the perfect example of how you can keep things simple and add big impact just by deciding how to spend your budget. What am I talking about you ask? Lighting. This is one of the biggest ways to add that wow factor to your wedding day: it creates a mood and sets the stage for the entire night. Of course, I might be biased growing up around my uber talented brother Tony of Ormonde Productions, but I think it is a category that is often overlooked and never should be.

Other things I love about this Philadelphia wedding are Morgan’s elegantly simple Romona Keveza gown, those watercolor-esque invitations by Wedding Paper Divas and those small little details like the horseshoe on Morgan’s bouquet.

PS – I also love that they opted to donate money to charity (PAWS) in lieu of traditional favors. Such a smart decision.

Morgan Shinick and Nicholas Daly
Married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 5, 2010

Morgan Shinick and Nicholas Daly met at Loyola University. Nick told her she was “the most beautiful girl in the world” as he saw her coming out of a bar late one night, then tried hailing her a cab. She laughed him off, but then asked around about him. He did the same and mutual friends hooked them up.

Elegant, chic, sophisticated, fun and full of great moments are just a few words that describe what Morgan and Nick wanted for their wedding. Their ceremony was held at Old St. Joseph’s Church right near Independence Hall in Philadelphia. It is a beautiful old church with a cobblestone courtyard, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Old City/Society Hill. After the ceremony, Morgan and Nick ventured into the gardens behind the First Bank Building where “really pretty grass and trees with old buildings peak through.” It is “a nice little nature hideaway,” says Morgan, adding: “Just make sure you get a photo permit if you are doing wedding photos there.”

Morgan looked stunning in her Romona Keveza wedding gown and Nick looked handsome in Roberto Cavalli. The reception was held at The Franklin Institute, which boasts an elegant marble foyer with large pillars, archways and Benjamin Franklin himself presiding. Guests had cocktails in the adjoining exhibits, which included a huge walkthrough heart, skeletons on bicycles and homemade electricity. The couple chose flowers in pinks and jewel tones. “I especially loved the three different centerpieces,” says Morgan. They also used tables of varying sizes, which helped add to the visual interest.

Ceremony Location: Old St. Joseph’s Church, Philadelphia, PA; Reception Location: The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, PA; Caterer: Frog Commissary, Philadelphia, PA; Floral Design: Beautiful Blooms Events, Philadelphia, PA; Invitations: Wedding Paper Divas; Band: City Rhythm Orchestra; Suit: Roberto Cavalli; Makeup: Face The Occasion, Philadelphia, PA; Bridesmaid Dresses: J. The Giving Tree: Casey & Brando Get Married

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

I read love stories every day. Some make me laugh, some get me welled up a bit and some leave me in awe. Although I am not sure exactly how the big picture works, I can’t help but believe that fate exists and I think you will agree when you read Casey and Brando’s love story.

Their simple, California backyard wedding was elegant and deeply personal and I couldn’t help, but want to share it on a dismal day like today where it is pouring outside and they are forecasting snow for later this evening. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Casey Moss and Brando King
Married in Riverside, California on October 9, 2010

“On this day as our families entwine let the forever give the two of us strength throughout all seasons, for our loving bond to grow, our roots to bind as one
no matter how high or wide this tree will grow.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn L Moss ,Sr. invite you to join them on this day as
Casey Colleen and Mr. Brando Scott King
begin the birth of their own branch, and the beginning of their life together.”

Casey Moss and Brando King coincidentally attended the same high school. Yet, Casey being a mere freshman who was two years younger than Brando, found herself having a school girl crush. It wasn’t until Brando graduated that Casey captured his heart and he surprised her with a first date at Seaworld in San Diego. They quickly built a strong connection and soon fell in love, but it wasn’t until later that they discovered another connection they’d shared for years, but had no idea.

As a girl, Casey and her mother frequented a post office that sold hand-painted greeting cards by a local woman from Lake Arrowhead. The artist told Casey and her mom the story behind her work and how she decided to sell her art to support her family. Touched by the woman’s story and her incredible talent, Casey and her mother bought them whenever they could. After a year of dating, Brando noticed the cards at Casey’s parent’s house and said “Those are my mother’s cards!”

Brando proposed in Coronado after sending Casey on an eight-hour scavenger hunt, which consisted of activities like yoga, a picnic lunch with her parents, and beer at a brewery with some of Brando’s friends and brothers. The day ended with Casey riding her bike around Coronado and arriving back at the spot that she had her picnic earlier in the day, to find Brando waiting for her with a view overlooking downtown San Diego.

Trees, yes trees, were the inspiration for Casey Moss and Brando King’s wedding. Like a tree, whose roots can grow three times as wide as the branches, a marriage also depends on the strength of its foundation—its roots.

Casey and Brando’s wedding was held in the backyard of Casey’s parent’s home—the house where she grew up and in the yard where she climbed trees. In fact, the branches of these same trees were used to make their six-foot tall “Tree Centerpieces” that were strung with yellow flowers and votive candle.

Brando’s mother Jody was the artist who created their tree logo, which consisted of a tree with its trunk formed out of the letter “K” for King. This logo was carried through from their balsa wood invitations to the programs, menus, cake, dance floor, and on the label wrapped around their parting gift: “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.

On October 9, 2010, Brando and Casey began the birth of their own branch. Each aspect of their wedding reminded them of their past, illustrated pieces of their present, and excitement for their new life together.

Common Roots: Lorena & Ricardo Get Married

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

When I first saw Lorena and Ricardo’s wedding, I was blown away by the cultural, multi-part event. From their ceremony in the grand church in downtown Oaxaca, Mexico, to when they paraded the streets in a procession, the photos against the old building facades, the amazing reception venue for their intimate party, to the spiritual ceremony at the end … it seemed like an amazing celebration of both the couple and their commitment to one another. There is always something special about destination weddings and I find something particularly authentic about ones that take place in Mexico. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Felicitaciones!

Lorena Droba and Ricardo Rodriguez
Married in Oaxaca, Mexico on March 14, 2010

Lorena Droba and Ricardo Rodriguez met while working on Wall Street. They became good friends, but the fast-paced lifestyle only allowed them to see a certain side of each other. It wasn’t until they got away from it all (on a trip that they had originally planned with friends) to explore the rainforests and Caribbean coast of Ricardo’s home country, Nicaragua, that they saw their common roots and family values. It was love in paradise! They realized that their lives had much more in common than their city life, and their deep friendship blossomed into something so much more.

They were married in Lorena’s birth city of Oaxaca, Mexico. It was the perfect old world setting, where indigenous, pre-Colombian and colonial influences converge. Romantic cobblestone streets, cascading bougainvilleas, ancient monasteries with fading original frescoes, and bubbling fountains in moonlit courtyards were just a few of the inspirations for their fairytale wedding. The wedding emphasized both of their cultures with folkloric dancers and musicians, traditional rituals, famous Oaxacan cuisine, and favors made by local craftsmen and artisans.
