While I think that everyone in the industry may agree that the vintage thing has been a bit overdone, we must remember that a bride spends months (and for some, possibly years) dreaming about what she wants for her wedding, and if vintage is it, than she deserves to have a day that is everything she has dreamed of. Plus, I will always love a great birdcage veil, bicycles and fabulous photography. And when I saw this wedding, I wanted to share it because I think it shows that you can always put your own twist on things.
Danielle Marie Whitethorn and Chadwick Dale Horton
Married in Miramar Beach, Florida on October 15, 2010
Another year had gone by and there was another Christmas to celebrate. Although this year would prove to be a little different. Little did Danielle Whitehorn know that she would be meeting her future spouse: Chadwick Horton. “My family had a couple special guests at our Christmas Eve dinner that year,” recalls Danielle. “My uncle, a.k.a. the photographer of Pure7Studios, invited his good friend Chad and his sweet mother over for dinner to join our huge family.”
Danielle and Chad were introduced to each other and talked for a bit, but nothing came of it because Danielle was dating someone at the time. So, she went back to college after break and Chad went back to living his life in Destin, Florida. A year had gone by and she found herself single and back home for Christmas break. With a close friend’s wedding a few months out, Danielle brainstormed with her best friend about who she could take to the wedding, when Chad popped into her head.
“I had no idea if he was single or even still in the area,” explains Danielle, but nevertheless “I decided to go out on a limb and see if I could get in contact with him.” A very uncharacteristic move for her, they began exchanging phone calls and texts, then decided to meet for drinks. “We spent hours talking that night and both of us knew this was something special and were excited to see where it would lead,” Danielle says. It didn’t take long before they realized it was a match, and after eight months Chad was down on one knee asking Danielle to marry him. “I was in complete shock!” remembers Danielle. “We have so much fun together and enjoy many of the same activities—most of which include being outdoors. We are so blessed to have each other.”
When it came time to plan their wedding, it all seemed to start with Danielle’s veil. “I knew I wanted to wear a birdcage veil because I loved the elegance and timelessness,” she says. And so began “my mission to create a vintage-inspired, elegant evening to share with our closest friends and family. I wanted to be able to look back at my wedding pictures 50 years down the road and still appreciate the timelessness of classic vintage style.”
