Bridal Showers

Paris comes to Southern California

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

Do you remember Leyna and Tho’s unforgettable e-session turn engagement shoot video that lasted 14 hours? For this couple, go big or go home are words to live by, which is why when it came time to plan her bridal shower, Leyna went all out … with Chanel.

And if you’re wondering how this bride-to-be got to have such great taste, it is because she works in the industry as the owner of Leyna’s Kitchen, where she specializes in cupcakes. Oui oui!

Cinematographer: Ethan J Studios; Floral Design: Letu Floral Design, Torrance, CA; Cupcakes: Leyna’s Kitchen, Beverly Hills, CA; Cake: Jacky Martinez; Cookies: Cookies by Elle

Butterfly Bridal Shower

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

When it comes to bridal showers, I love it when they are executed with style and elegance and this butterfly bridal shower was right on target. I like to pick a theme and run with it — showing taste and restraint, of course. Something I like in particular about this shower was the absence of hokey games replaced by more contemporary ideas like “Guess the Spice?” and the Make a Bouquet Contest.

I hope you enjoy these ideas as much as I did and be sure to stay tuned next week to see Sandra’s over-the-top wedding!

Sandra Thomasian has had an obsession with butterflies since she was a little girl, so when she got engaged and the time came for her shower it only made sense to have a butterfly-themed bridal shower. Sandra’s sister (the girl in the fabulous lavender dress) threw it for her and from the butterfly arch to the table décor, cake, the floating installation in the pool, the wrapping on the presents, the butterfly place cards that perched on the mimosas, and more, everything had to follow the butterfly theme. “What made my event so special was the attention to detail and the vibrant colors,” says Sandra.

Location: Private Residence; Event Planning and Design, Linen and Rentals: Sky Events & Production, Los Angeles, CA; Cake: Rafi’s Cakes, Glendale, CA; Catering: La Fogata Catering, Sherman Oaks, CA; Entertainment: DJ Melcon; Hair: Phillip Arellano, Carlton Hair Salon; Makeup: Fiore Beauty; Bride’s Dress: Badgley Mischka; Maid of Honor Dress: Marchesa; Photography: Reel Light Pictures, Burbank, CA

Thank you so much for letting us share your bridal shower Sandra and a big thank you to Lilit Khatchaturian of Sky Events & Production for your amazing work and Reel Light Pictures for letting us share these images with our viewers.

She’s a Barbie Girl: Part 2

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Like many little girls, the career-driven femme persona of Barbie was always an inspiration to Azeeza while growing up. But the thought was revived when Azeeza attended The Barbie Runway Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York earlier last year.

Fast-forward to her successful engagement shoot with fiancé Rehan at the Jonathan Adler designed Barbie Suite in the Palms Casino Resort, and there was an abundance of inspiration to plan the Barbie-themed bridal shower at Cuvee in Chicago.

Hostesses Zeenat, Parveen (Azeeza’s other sister), and Asma (Zeenat’s cousin) set the tone with digital invitations designed to look like a magazine filled with pictorials from the engagement shoot. Other details included pictures in front of a step and repeat, a red carpet, makeup station so that guests could achieve the perfect Barbie pink lipstick shade for the soiree, a candy bar station complete with edible Christian Louboutin (the bride’s favorite shoe designer) tied favors, enlarged and framed photos of the engagement shoot, and of course, two official Christian Louboutin Barbie dolls.

In true Barbie style, Azeeza wore a pink dress that she designed and paired it with a pink tweed Chanel handbag, lace tights and a classic pair of Loubie pumps. To match, all three hostesses, along with Azeeza’s sister-in-law, donned pink belts and a part of the toast was dedicated to each hostesses’ favorite “Barbie memory” with Azeeza. Oh, and did I mention that no “Kens” were allowed.
