Brian Atwood sure knows how to design great heels! Aren’t these “Claudia” embroidered suede pumps perfect for Spring/Summer?
As we approach the end of the week and the start of the next, our editors will be at large from San Francisco to Los Angeles and Washington, DC shooting tabletops, our fashion and cover shoot and exploring everything the cities have to offer. So, I thought to myself, what could be more appropriate today than to share a fabulous Washington, DC wedding at the esteemed Four Seasons Hotel?
I hope you enjoy this video by Blue Sky Films as much as I did and beware of the toasts — they are pretty darn good and you might need a tissue or two.
Jenny Clark and Pat Castle
Married in Washington, DC on May 14, 2011
What Jenny and Pat remember most about their wedding is that they were thrilled to be surrounded by all of their family and friends. “It was so meaningful to know they were all there to celebrate our special day,” says Jenny. “Our favorite part was dancing and letting loose after such a formal day; it was nice to step out of the spotlight and let everyone join us on the dance floor.”

“Obsession” is the perfect style name for these delicious pumps by Yves Saint Laurent. I am completely obsessed with them! The sorbet colors, the gold-tone gold-tone metal-capped toe and the 6.5″ heel, what’s not to love? xoxo
Nestled on the elbow of Cape Cod, this meticulously landscaped hideaway features 120 lavish guest rooms and suites, four acclaimed restaurants, two magnificent pools, two extraordinary beaches, boating and water sports, four Har Tru tennis courts and eighteen holes of exclusive championship golf. I had the pleasure of speaking with Amy Farrell who is the Director of Catering Sales. Amy told me that she feel in love with the property when she herself got married at Wequassett 10 years before working there. Amy gave us a sneak peek into what its like for a bride getting married at Wequassett.
GO: What is your unique role when it comes to a couple’s wedding day and how does your property distinguish a couple’s experience as opposed to getting married somewhere else?
AF: My role in a couple’s wedding is to create the event of their dreams and often this involves an entire weekend. I spend a lot of time with couples and their families during the planning process and I feel it’s important to establish a friendship with them so that they are very comfortable working with my colleagues and I.
We strive to customize each wedding whether it is a casual clambake for 25 or a formal affair for 200. We hope to create long-term relationship with them as they usually have ties to the Cape and typically enjoy the resort for years to come.
GO: From start to finish, what can a couple expect if they choose to get married at your property?
AF: From start to finish, the couple can expect warm, friendly service and precise execution. All of the members of the catering team have from 10 to 15 years with the resort and know it intimately. They strive to make each wedding a very personal experience. We are also very comfortable working with wedding planners.
GO: If you had to describe your property in few words, what would they be?
AF: Quintessential Cape Code, Warm and Refined!
GO: What are the unique locations that a couple can host their ceremony and reception at in your venue?
AF: All of the locations at Wequassett for both ceremonies and wedding receptions have spectacular water views and are complemented by lush seasonal gardens. Ceremonies may be held on our Croquet Lawn, which sits on the edge of Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic beyond, on our private beach, or on the Pleasant Bay Terrace, which is adjacent to our spectacular waterfront pool.
Receptions can take place on the Garden Terrace which is an alfresco setting covered by a canopy and overlooks the bay. Our ballroom is called the Pavilion and was designed to reflect the charm of Cape Cod and offers magnificent water views. During the spring and fall months, our restaurants may be available for weddings. Our signature restaurant, twenty-eight Atlantic is distinguished as the only Four Star, Four Diamond restaurant on the Cape. It is housed in an 18th century sea captain’s home overlooking Pleasant Bay. The Outer Bar & Grille is a perfect venue for smaller weddings or rehearsal dinners. This setting offers panoramic views of Pleasant Bay and Round Cove. A canopy-covered deck is lovely for cocktail receptions and dancing.
GO: Do you have areas where a couple can elect to take wedding pictures?
AF: There are wonderful settings for many different looks for pictures and all are in close proximity, whether it be our beach, colorful gardens, or the backdrop of Pleasant Bay. These areas are also close to the reception venue so that both the wedding party and guests are close to each other.
GO: Do you have customizable packages? Tell me a little bit about them?
AF: We do offer three packages, and we are very willing to customize them based upon the couple’s desires and budget. The packages featured are called Grand, Premier and Platinum and feature such offerings as open bar, raw bars, passed and stationary hors d’oeuvres, champagne toasts, wine service, a station-style or plated dinner, ice carvings, desserts and wedding cake.
GO: Food is such an important element at a wedding; tell me about your menus/culinary team?
AF: Both Forbes and AAA have recognized our culinary reputation as we have the only Four Star, Four Diamond restaurant on Cape Cod. Our Executive Chef James Hackney spent ten years at Boston’s legendary L’Espalier before joining our team. His menus have an emphasis on local seafood and a natural influence. The Chef is very willing to meet with couples to tailor wedding menus. Our Food and Beverage Director, Jason Brauer came to us from Ritz Carlton hotels where he held management posts around the world; Jason is present at all weddings. Wequassett has dedicated kitchens for each of its wedding venues. We receive compliments about our food consistently!
GO: What is the first thing a couple should do if they are interested in getting married at your property?
AF: Call us! We accommodate appointments seven days a week. My direct line is 508-430-3025.
