T.G.I.F.! After a long of working on a multitude of stories for our next FW11 issue, I’m ready for a night out of salsa dancing on the town! And what better way to accessorize for my evening of dancing than with this fabulous watersnake skin clutch by Katherine Kwei. This Donna Clutch is ever so chic with it’s Swarovski crystal detail and snake detail. Cheer’s to a fabulous weekend! xoxo
Located in the center of downtown Providence, Hotel Providence has been offering its guests an escape from the Creative Capital since February of 2005. This boutique hotel allows its guests to have an intimate experience when it comes to planning and personalizing their wedding. Hotel Providence is the only AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel in downtown and has its own unique style, filled with old charm flair and character. There’s nowhere else that offers its guests a simple, yet sophisticated and stylish atmosphere to have their reception.
I had the pleasure to chat with the Director of Catering at Hotel Providence, Rhonda English, who has worked at the hotel since it’s doors opened six years ago. Rhonda has more than 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has spent most of her time working at premier properties. Rhonda was able to give us an exclusive look into the special services that they provide when couples decide to plan their wedding at the Hotel Providence.
GO: What is your unique role when it comes to a couple’s wedding day and how does your property distinguish a couple’s experience as opposed to getting married somewhere else?
RE: At Hotel Providence, we strive to create the wedding of the couple’s dreams. Since we are a smaller property we are able to offer a more personalized brand of service. I am personally always there for the couple through out the entire wedding day as well as a bridal attendant from which white-gloved butler service is performed.
GO: From start to finish, what can a couple expect if they choose to get married at your property?
RE: A truly elegant experience from start to finish with personalized service.
GO : If you had to describe your property in three words, what would they be?
RE: Boutique, Elegant and Unique!
GO: What are the unique locations that a couple can host their ceremony and reception at in your venue?
RE: For ceremonies, we have our Blackstone Terrace, which is a tented outdoor space that overlooks our courtyard. We also have our Johnson and Wales Hospitality Room, which is full of natural light with three walls of windows that overlook our courtyard and parts of downtown. For receptions you can certainly use any of the preceding rooms, our ballroom or Aspire Restaurant. Our Tilden Thurber Ballroom is a wonderful space to host a reception, because of all the natural light, a coffered ceiling, and antique pieces giving the space a classic and European touch. Aspire Restaurant has also been a popular choice for wedding receptions. Aspire is dressed with Swarovski crystal chandeliers, trendy art, textures including leather and velvet, and overlooks our courtyard.
GO: Do you have areas where a couple can elect to take their wedding pictures at your property?
RE: We have several areas where couples can take their wedding pictures. We have our courtyard, Blackstone terrace, lobby, and our famous staircase that stretches from the second to seventh floor. It has become a popular spot to help capture wedding day memories.
GO: Do you have customizable packages? Tell me a little bit about them?
RE: We offer customizable packages with large amenities consisting of a complimentary champagne toast and dinner for two at Aspire on your one-year anniversary!
GO: Food is such an important element at a wedding; tell me about your menus/culinary team?
RE: Our menus are carefully designed to satisfy the palates of everyone. Our Executive Chef is a Johnson and Wales Culinary graduate and our Banquet Chef performed an apprenticeship in Switzerland.
GO: What is the first thing a couple should do if they are interested in getting married at your property?
RE: A wonderful way to help couples who are interested in our property is for them to look at our virtual tour which can be accessed through our website, www.hotelprovidence.com. Couples should set up a site tour with myself so that they can get a feel of what our property is actually like in person.
GO: Does your property have any unique features that you would like us to share with our readers?
RE: We feature wedding ideas and tips on our hotel’s blog. It can be found at www.hotelprovidence.wordpress.com and of course our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Thank you Rhonda English for giving GO a look into the unique services that the Hotel Providence provides it’s couples who are looking for an intimate and unique affair.
So anyone that has seen the new issue knows that I finally made it out to Arizona … and I fell in love. It’s a little city chic and a little desert beauty, and seemingly has something to offer everyone. Every sight is picture worthy and I grew a fondness for cactus. Go figure. I love that this wedding was in Arizona and how photographer Elyse Hall was able to capture not only the details of the wedding, but also the surrounding environment. It’s so romantic and so girly.
Things I love: the old photos of the grandparents and not only is that fur jacket beyond words, but it’s vintage. Amazing!
Stephanie Morgan and Mark Lowe
Married in Peoria, Arizona on December 04, 2010
Stephanie Morgan and Mark Lowe, a pitcher for the Texas Rangers, were introduced — by who would come to be, the maid of honor and her husband (a groomsman) — at a beach barbecue in Seattle during the summer of 2009. Both members of Blackstone Country Club, they thought it would be a place that they could go to every day and be reminded of how beautiful their wedding was.
In honor of her late grandmother, Stephanie wore pearls and a fur stole that belonged to her and were passed down when she was only in grade school. “Remembering her on this special day was important,” she says. As a couple, Stephanie and Mark paid tribute to all of the grandparents with a photo collage that they filled with old photographs. With Mark being a professional baseball player for the Texas Rangers, his nephew arranged for all of his teammates to sign the program.

As the famous Elvis Presley (a la Carl Perkins) song goes…
“Well it’s one for the money, two for the show,
Three to get ready, now go, cat, go,
But don’t you step on my blue suede shoes,
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.”
Perhaps an alternative “something blue” for the daring bride? Loving these blue suede and leather platform sandals by Edmundo Castillo!
I personally feel that when you have purple in your decor, it has to be the right shade, it has to be used in a monochromatic design, and it has to be well lighted. This wedding does just that.
I also love Kisha’s shoes. Perhaps one of my favorite images is Desmond completely overwhelmed by seeing Kisha and welling up with tears. It is just so amazing to see the love between them. Kisha and Desmond seem like such a fun couple and like they are having such a great time and I think Anna and Spencer’s photography successfully captures the cool vibe that they so intently desired.
Kisha Turner and Desmond Carter
Married in Atlanta, Georgia on August 28, 2010
Kisha Turner and Desmond Carter met at a summer job in Atlanta, Georgia back in 2001. They went on their first date over their college winter break, and although they were in two separate cities, Kisha and Desmond grew closer throughout college. After settling into their professional careers, Desmond proposed to Kisha on New Year’s Day in 2010 while visiting Château Élan in Braselton, just outside of Atlanta.
Inspiration can come from many places. For this wedding, their inspiration came from the most unusual of places: the inside lining of Kisha’s favorite handbag. From this rich shade of eggplant, they started to build the look of their wedding. While they wanted to pay great respect to tradition, they also wanted to show their “cool side.”
“We kept the ceremony traditional with modern touches by using the columns down the aisle with florals and candlelight,” says Kisha, pointing out their addition of a swirled, petal-lined aisle. For the reception they opted for round and square tables featuring three different floral designs, brought in lounge furniture to reinforce their cool vibe, and, of course, added dramatic lighting.

As you all may know, I love diamonds. It’s no secret of my obsession as I dedicate many pages in my magazine to diamonds, diamonds, diamonds! A big trend that I’ve been noticing lately is brides wanting more “statement piece” wedding bands. Lots of women opt for a larger, thicker, diamond encrusted wedding band and move their engagement ring to the opposite hand. In honor of this trend, I wanted to share with you the “Allegria Full Oval-Cut” diamond band by De Beers. I admire this gorgeous ring for it’s simplistic yet wow-factor design. Cheers and Happy Wednesday!
I love earrings that have a “WOW” factor and these ones by Dana Rebecca Designs certainly do the trick. The intricate detailing set within diamonds are the perfect accessory with any Little Black Dress. So go throw on a sexy Herve Leger number paired with these beauties and have yourself a first-class evening!
Spanish-based jewelry company, Carrera y Carrera, is an amazing brand that offers innovative designs for passionate women. I absolutely adore this stunning watch known as the Palacios del Sur set in yellow gold and diamonds with an interchangeable bezel. This elegant jewelry watch that can be worn two ways and offers women a sense of versatility within their wardrobes. Cheers and Happy Monday!
This adorable clutch by Tiffany & Co. would make a perfect bridesmaids gift for your Tiffany adoring friends! This is the Ellie Bow Clutch in vachetta with a satin bow and palladium-plated handle. The best part of this clutch is the surprise when opening the bag and seeing the lining which is made in traditional Tiffany Blue® leather! Cheers and Happy Friday! xoxo
