Old Hollywood Glam

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

When I saw this submission we didn’t have room in the magazine, but I immediately fell in love with the black and white photography (I think everyone knows how I feel about B&W photos … love them!) and knew I had to share it with you. Not to mention, Switzerland is an incredible location. Add designer fashion, a gorgeous couple (who also happen to be newlyweds), to-die-for photography and a love that is so obvious like theirs and it was the making for an amazing photo shoot.

According to the photographer: The idea of the shoot was born about 1.5 years ago. I loved the idea of a fashion-inspired shoot in a vintage luxury hotel. The Beau Rivage was the perfect location because it still has this kind of “old Hollywood glam” feeling. It took long from the idea to realize the shoot because I couldn’t find the right dress. When I saw the Dolce & Gabbana dress in “VOGUE” I fell in love with it and it quickly became the inspiration for the right styling, fantastic shoes, illustration, etc. The couple is actually a real couple. Danielle and Patric got married just a couple of days before the shoot. Danielle is Brazilian and Patric is Swiss. Danielle even moved to Switzerland just for Patric. They are both amazing. We loved shooting them and the atmosphere was beyond fantastic!

Thank you so much Danielle and Patric for letting us share this with our readers and a huge thank you to Andrea & Marcus for letting us share your incredible images!

Location: Hotel Beau Rivage, Geneva, Switzerland; Illustration: Astrid Mueller Exclusive; Artisan Printing: Digby and Rose, Washington, DC; Earrings: Bel Canto Designs, Apex, NC; Shoes and Dress: Dolce & Gabbana; Styling: Hex & Beauty, Zurich, Switzerland; Photography: Andrea & Marcus, New York, NY and Europe

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

History and spectacular landscapes come together at Charlottesville, Virginia where the setting for Keswick Hall at Monticello, an impressive mansion in true Orient-Express style. Keswick swathe’s the East Coast’s most beautiful scenery and home to renowned horse races, hunts and vineyards. Keswick have its own Arnold Palmer Signature 18-hole golf course and a luxurious spa. The surrounding estate is the perfect retreat for those who wish to combine relaxation and pampering with fresh country air.

Joey Worley is the Director of Sales and Catering at the Keswick Hall at Monticello. Joey started his career in 1999 in the hospitality industry. Earlier this month Joey answered a few questions and gave us a look into the services of planning a wedding at the Keswick Hall.
Keswick Hall at Monticello
GO: What is your unique role when it comes to a couple’s wedding day and how does your property distinguish a couple’s experience as opposed to getting married somewhere else? Will the couple have a dedicated person, i.e. you or a wedding advisor or specialist, from your staff on location throughout the day?
JW: We offer the convenience of a one-stop shop here at Keswick. We can handle each aspect of your event in partnership with our preferred vendors whom we work with on a frequent basis.  Our service is what sets us apart, from the initial inquiry with our sales office until the last guests departs the hotel; we strive to exceed the expectations of all of our guests. We strive to make each event seamless, allowing guests the opportunity to savor the moment and enjoy all the luxurious amenities and services.

GO: From start to finish, what can a couple expect if they choose to get married at your property?
JW: A couple can expect detailed guidance and experience through every aspect of the planning process to the execution of a flawless event.  We can assist not only with the actual event, but we can plan an entire weekend for those destination weddings.  We only ever have one wedding taking place on any given day, so couples, along with their family and friends can expect dedicated attention too.  We recognize that each event is unique to the couples style and personalities, and with our experience, we can help enhance and execute their vision.

GO: If you had to describe your property in three words, what would they be?
JW: Beautiful, friendly and accommodating.

GO: What are the unique locations that a couple can host their ceremony and reception at in your venue?
JW: Depending on the size of the wedding and time of year, most couples choose an outdoor ceremony on our lower Terrace overlooking our picturesque golf course.  Afterwards, reception and dinner and dancing can take place in either an elegant tent or inside our beautifully appointed ballroom.

GO: Do you have areas where a couple can elect to take their wedding pictures at your property?
JW: There are almost too many to describe!  My favorite two are the Horizon Pool, overlooking the golf course and estate, or the Lower Terrace near one of the many delightful gardens our staff maintains throughout the year.

GO: Do you have customizable packages? Tell me a little bit about them?
JW: Of course, our packages are divided into sections:  plated style dinners, buffet dinners, and reception style/stationed events.  Each has been carefully crafted by our chef to ensure enough exotic variety for those with sophisticated requirements, and simpler (but no less perfectly executed) choices for more casual events.  Please don’t feel limited by what you see on the menus. Our chef is happy to customize based upon your preferences.

GO: Food is such an important element at a wedding; tell me about your menus/culinary team?
JW: The culinary team is dedicated to showcasing the best local and regional ingredients available.  As such, you’ll notice plenty of locally grown produce, grass fed beef and game, and fresh herbs and lettuces picked right from the on-site garden here at Keswick.  Using elegant presentations, Chef Maupin and his team let the ingredients speak for themselves, and are happy to get creative beyond what is listed in print on our menus.

GO: What is the first thing a couple should do if they are interested in getting married at your property?
JW: Call us or submit an inquiry on our website!  We book up fast, especially from April through October!

GO: Does your property have any unique features that you would like us to share with our readers?
JW: Keswick.com is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in the hotel and Charlottesville area in general.  Alternatively, additional wedding information can be found in our electronic brochure: Keswick Hall Weddings.

Thank you, Joey for giving us a look into your luxurious and posh hotel!

Danielle & Cade Get Married

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Dove Wedding Photography

Here is a teaser for Monday’s wedding of the week on www.weddingstylemagazine.com.

A New York girl (in a form-fitting black and white dress and an over-sized Derby hat) meets a Texas guy (in a blue and white seersucker suit with a pink and lime green tie) in Louisville at the 135th Kentucky Derby. They get engaged on a ski trip in Lake Tahoe, California and get married at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee.

Things I love: the way the decor merges an elegant, fashion-forward style with subtle country nuances reflecting the love story of the couple. Her dresses were both fabulous, the food didn’t stop, and the band seemed like they kept the party going all night—it just looked like everyone had such a good time.

Thank you so much to the incredible Angela Proffitt of Elegant Weddings by Angela for sharing this wedding with us and the wonderful Dove Wedding Photography for letting us share it with you. Be sure to look out for the full feature on Monday. Have a great weekend!

Kirsten & Emmanuel’s Anniversary Shoot

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

So I am sort of in love with this shoot. I love how confident Kirsten comes across, her fashion sense is top notch and her vixen red hair is gorgeous. Emmanuel is adorable in his newsboy hat and they just seem totally comfortable with one another. There are not many experiences in life that justify hiring a professional photographer, but special occasions like engagements, weddings and anniversaries are definitely worth it when you look at the results. It is important to spoil yourself every now and then and when you end up with some great images to add to your photo collection, you will be left with stories to share with family and friends as the rest of your life unfolds.

Kirsten and Emmanuel
Washington, DC

Kirsten and Emmanuel celebrated their one-year anniversary with an editorial-style photo shoot around the streets of Washington, DC. Their photographs were taken against the backdrop of quintessential stone buildings typical of the nation’s capital, along with more modern glass and steel architecture for contrast.

According to their photographer, Laura Luís of Three Lights Photography: “I love the quality that city streets convey and this couple selected the perfect wardrobe for an entirely urban look. I really loved working with these two because they were able to let go, have fun and let their style shine through.”

Happy anniversary Kirsten and Emmanuel and thank you so much Laura Luís of Three Lights Photography for sharing this with us!

The Inside Scoop on Planning a Wedding at The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, NV

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is located right on the Vegas strip, at the south end just steps away from world-class gaming, entertainment and nightlife. The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is an impeccable, five-diamond  hotel that caters to every taste and style. Dennis Silknitter, the Assistant Catering Director has worked in the hotel industry for over 15 years and we were honored to chat with Silknitter who gave us a sneak peak on what it is like planning a wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas.

GO: What is your unique role when it comes to a couple’s wedding day and how does your property distinguish a couple’s experience as opposed to getting married somewhere else? Will the couple have a dedicated person from your staff on location throughout the day?
DS
: The first impression is our response time at the initial inquiry, then spending quality time over the phone to listen to their key needs and painting the picture of how their special day will unfold. We start our tour in our ‘Wedding & Event Planning Salon’, a private venue where we meet with couples and plan their event from start to finish. A welcome sign with both their names greets the guests of honor as they enter. The Wedding and Event Planning Salon has many pictures of past events, wedding cake displays, a themed guest table, pictures of our food and beverage presentations. We then sit down and show an introduction video of our hotel that allows them to see previous indoor/outdoor events, the spa, Verandah restaurant, and most importantly how photography is taken throughout our property. Either myself or a member of our team is dedicated to the couple from the initial meeting through their special day.

GO: From start to finish, what can a couple expect if they choose to get married at your property?
DS
: We understand the importance of being responsive, and we treat each bride and groom as if they are the only event we are planning all year. We do not offer inclusive packages. Instead every aspect is truly customized based on their individual ambiance and budget preferences. We like to say we partner with them, holding their hands throughout the planning process.

GO: If you had to describe your property in three words, what would they be?
DS:
Intimate, Exclusive and World Class

GO: What are the unique locations that a couple can host their ceremony and reception at in your venue?
DS:
We recently enhanced our preferred outdoor venue called the Fountain Terrace, which is a private lush oasis, with a cascading waterfall as a backdrop. The space starts with a winding pathway, which is perfect to butler pass a specialty drink on the arrival of your guests. Then guests can enjoy a fine dining experience poolside, complete with a waterfall and the evening lights of the Mandalay Bay Resort tower.

GO:Do you have areas where a couple can elect to take their wedding pictures at your property?
DS:
We have a stunning Grand Staircase, which may be blocked for private photo sessions, and has natural sunlight on both levels, that maximizes the lighting. Other options include a fountain at the front drive and sitting area with a fireplace in the main lobby that creates a residential feeling.

GO: Do you have customizable packages? Tell me a little bit about them?
DS:
We take pride in customizing each couples experience. We offer a broad, award-winning menu that can easily incorporate family tradition, culture or other preferences. We custom-tailor packages based on the couples ambiance and budget preferences.

GO: Food is such an important element at a wedding; tell me about your menus/culinary team?
DS:
When is comes to food, if you can imagine it, we can create it. Our talented culinary team partners with the bride and groom to create a menu based on their vision. A cocktail reception featuring comfort food with a modern twist, a plated affair with fine dining quality, the possibilities are endless. Our in house pastry chef works with the bride to create a customized cake of her dreams.

GO: What is the first thing a couple should do if they are interested in getting married at your property?
DS:
Call 702.632.5000. Most of our clients do not live in Las Vegas, so we suggest scheduling a personalized site tour with a member of our catering team.

GO: Does your property have any unique features (i.e. wedding website) that you would like us to share with our readers?
DS:
Visit www.fourseasons.com/lasvegas, which features a video that highlights our wedding offerings.

Thank you, Dennis for giving us a look into your remarkable hotel and services.
